The purpose of the text is to inform the reader what state of mind Andy Williams was in at the moment of the shooting. Further more the text shows the pressure the young boy was under in his daily life, and what things went wrong during his life. It shows the sings before the shooting which could have been prevented, if his friends, adults and his family had payed more attention to him and his needs.
